The Flemish village of Machelen- aan-de Leie in East Flanders is very proud of its best-known inhabitant: 88-year-old artist Roger Raveel. As well as the Roger Raveel Museum, specially designed to house his work, the village also boasts a walking path named after him (the Roger Raveelwandelroute) and a restaurant that makes the most of the Raveel connection by having a book about him take pride of place on the fireplace and a menu that highlights the life of the famous local.
