"It never rains but it pours." It's an expression that could have applied for Belgium in the past months and weeks. Problems keep popping up, and this is causing harm to the image of our country, which had already been dented after the Paris attacks and the Molenbeek saga. Following is a list of 10 major problems.
Huge loss, but airport CEO optimistic
Brussels Airport CEO Arnaud Feist told the VRT that he expects a loss in turnover of 80 to 90 million euros after the 22 March bomb blasts. However, he adds that the lion's share of this amount is covered by the insurance.

The questioning of terrorist suspect Mohammed Hamza Arshad continued at the trial of those implicated in the Verviers terrorist cell on Tuesday. He told the court that he had grown a beard as part of the ‘hipster’ fashion and that an arms dealer threw police uniforms into the bargain when he bought weapons.
Euro 2016: Breathalyzer marathon on the way
Belgian police stand ready to unleash a breathalyzer marathon on the population at the start of the Euro 2016 in France this summer. The daily Het Laatste Nieuws reports that the anti-drink-drive offensive will be focused on the weekend of 10 till 12 June and that police forces across the land will be able to decide for themselves how often checks are staged when they take place.

Stabbing in Anderlecht
Two people were injured in a stabbing in the Brussels borough of Anderlecht last night. In all five people were involved in the altercation. They have all been detained.

A survey of UK citizens living overseas carried out by the UK Electoral Commission has shown that half of all respondents don’t know that they can now register online to vote in the UK's EU referendum. Alison Rose, the British Ambassador in Belgium is backing the call for expats to take part in the vote if they can.

Grandparents file complaint after ducklings are murdered
Two senior citizens filed a complaint with the police on Monday after they and their grandchild, who was accompanied by two other young children witnessed animal cruelty on an unprecedented scale. Returning home from the Plopsaland amusement park they saw how a motorist ran over a mother duck and twelve little ducklings on purpose.

Research undertaken by UGent (Ghent University) reveals that the legal and social position of LGTBI people in Belgium is among the best in Europe. Researchers also came to a very striking conclusion Belgian law is ahead of the attitudes of the people at large.
