Rubens in Private tickets on sale now
Peter Paul Rubens’ most intimate portraits are travelling from around the world to Antwerp, where they will show together for a major exhibition in the Rubens House, opening in March
Family portraits
Some of the painter’s most intimate and celebrated portraits were of members of his family, most notably of his two wives – Helena and Isabella – and his children. These portraits, along with other family portraits, including of his sisters and brothers-in-law – and his well-known self-portraits – were largely painted at his home in Antwerp but are now spread out in collections across the world. The Rubens in Private exhibition brings them back together at the source of their creation.
Paintings and drawings are traveling from, among other museums, the Uffizi in Florence, the British Museum in London, the Louvre in Paris and the Hermitage in St Petersburg. They are also being culled from private collections.
As Rubens House expects a great deal of interest in the exhibition, it has put tickets on sale already. Visitors can book an entry slot now on the house’s website.
