Stromae wins most Music Industry Awards (again)
Brussels hip-hop artist Stromae and Flemish band Oscar and the Wolf pulled down the most prizes at last night’s Music Industry Awards
“Ta Fête” best video
The Brussels electronic and hip-hop artist picked up awards for four of his five nominations: Pop and Male Solo Artist in the public choice category and Live Act and Video Clip in the music sector category, the latter for his video “Ta Fête”, the official song for the Belgian national side’s participation in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Stromae’s solo artist award was handed over by the winner of De slimste mens ter wereld, Adil El Arbi.
Electro-pop band Oscar and the Wolf also scored at the awards, taking three of their six nominations, for Breakthrough, Alternative and Album categories with their debut Entity. Triggerfinger, meanwhile, won Best Group, and Selah Sue won for Best Female Solo.
MIAs also went to Christophe for Flemish Popular and to Bart Peeters for Dutch-language. The hit of the year was “Gold” by Gabriel Rios, who also took the sector award for Author/Composer. The Lifetime Achievement award was given posthumously to Luc De Vos, who died suddenly last month.
