Ghent photographer Marijke Thoen has won the annual competition sponsored by the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers, based in Texas in the US.
The winning image was captured by the 38-year-old during the water birth of baby Nelle eight months ago. “The lighting was perfect, the baby’s head was facing me, and there were not too many hands or arms in the way of my camera,” Thoen told Het Nieuwsblad.
