Great write-up on the brief history of American and Dutch relations. I thought this was interesting:

"The term “atlas”, incidentally, was first coined by Mercator."

This is not mentioned anywhere in wikipedia. I wonder why? I'll go add it! Do you have some documentation so I can mention that as well?
