The Flemish government has approved a Master’s degree in gender and diversity, which will be set up through a collaboration by the five Flemish universities. The interuniversity Master’s programme can be provided from next year, education minister Pascal Smet announced.

The introduction of the degree has been a topic of discussion for several years. “Gender and diversity are two subjects that are getting higher on the public agenda and are increasingly common in the minds of the population and the policy-makers,” Smet said in a press release.

He believes many companies and organisations are in need of expertise on gender and diversity. Graduates will find a job at organisation such as government institutions, the police, army, cultural institutions, political parties, unions, research centres and staff departments at enterprises.
