Quality checks

Students taking the entrance exam for medical and dental studies at a Flemish university will be able to check their results online for the first time this year, Jan Eggermont, president of the exams commission, has announced. More than 5,000 students sat the exam yesterday for medical studies.

Two-thirds of the students taking the entrance exam this week in Brussels were women, and 548 had a foreign nationality, 71% of them from the Netherlands. The results of the entrance exam will be announced next week. A resit of the exam takes place on 30 August.

After the second exam date, participants will be able to check their results online. “Previously, students had to come to check their exam results in person,” said Eggermont. “Now, they will have two weeks to view their results online and compare them with the correct answers.”

In addition, this year a quality check was added in the development of the list of questions. A lecturer has examined whether the questions are in accordance with a number of criteria, including lessons provided in secondary education.
