Flemish experts plead for “climate knowledge centre”
A group of experts working in climate, sustainability and geology have asked the federal government to create a central climate knowledge centre in Belgium
Projects too fragmented
Amongst the signatories are climatologists, glaciologists, experts in the carbon cycle, geologists, geographers, mathematicians, biodiversity experts and those working in sustainable development. The group includes scientists from universities and research institutions across the country.
According to the experts, Belgium’s climate research projects are too fragmented. The knowledge centre would centralise the results and data of fundamental research, making it all more easy to consult. It should, also, say the experts, have the mission to objectively inform and advise policymakers, industry and the public.
