Brussels Games Festival
If you love board games, you won’t want to miss this huge outdoor event, with hundreds of free games to play, plus demonstrations, game publishers, tournaments, clubs, entertainment and more. The theme this year is “Games and Diversity”. 26-27 August 10.00-18.00, Jubelpark, Brussels; free
Passe-Vite Festival
This outdoor urban festival is built around a pop-up campground and kitchen, with live music, traditional games, circus workshops, kids’ activities, food and more. Bring your own tent and join the campfire in the evening (with reservation, €10). 25-27 August, Desguinlei 86B, Antwerp; free
Kids’ Day
It’s a last hurrah before going back to school. Children aged two to 12 are welcome to join in this free event just for kids, with games, sports activities, craft workshops, face-painting, entertainment, and a bouncy castle. 27 August 11.00-18.00, Jubelpark (near the fountain); free
Car-Free Sunday
This Sunday, automobiles are banned inside Leuven’s ring road, so that pedestrians, bikes and other non-motorised vehicles rule the day. The streets will be filled with stages for music and dance, antique markets, a second-hand bike sale, games, a food truck festival and more. 27 August, Leuven city centre; free
Party at Villa Empain
The swimming pool and garden of this Art Deco mansion, which now houses a non-profit dedicated to the art and cultures of East and West, is the setting for a summer party with music, food and refreshments.
