In de Wulf best restaurant in Europe, says OAD

Summary

Kobe Desramaults’ In de Wulf restaurant in Heuvelland took top honours in this year’s list of Europe’s best 100 restaurants, published by Opinionated About Dining

Hertog Jan and Hof van Cleve also make list

In de Wulf, headed by chef Kobe Desramaults in Heuvelland, West Flanders, took first place in a list of Europe’s 100 best restaurants compiled by the food critic blogging site Opinionated About Dining (OA). It’s a climb for the restaurant from last year’s result of number five.

The list, which is drawn up from 140,000 restaurants visited by 4,300 critics and foodies, puts In de Wulf at number one, followed by Troisgros in Roanne, France, and Quique Dacosta in Dénia, Spain.

“This recognition is wonderful,” said Desramaults (pictured). “I’m very proud of my team. I’m convinced that this result is due to them and to their international character. I work with kitchen staff from 10 different countries; it’s this strength that gives In de Wulf its unique character.”

Several more local restaurants figured among OA’s top 100, with 27th place for chef Geert Mangeleer’s Hertog Jan in Bruges; 42nd place for chef Peter Goossens’ Hof van Cleve in Kruishoutem; 53rd place for Lionel Rigolet’s Comme chez soi in Brussels; 78th place for Yves Matagne’s Sea Grill in Brussels and, squeaking in at 99, David Martin’s La Paix, also in Brussels.
