Hof van Cleve Belgium’s best restaurant, says GaultMillau

Summary

The new GaultMillau guide for Belgium and Luxembourg is out, with Flanders hosting the best restaurant, best discovery and best wine list

Ypres’ Souvenir is best discovery

In the 12th edition of the GaultMillau’s guide for Belgium and Luxembourg, Peter Goossens’ three-star Michelin restaurant Hof van Cleve in Kruishoutem, East Flanders, once again takes the title of best restaurant in Belgium for the fourth year running. However, this year it must share its top spot with the two-star Bon-Bon in Brussels.

Flanders was heavily featured amongst the other top restaurants in the new guide. Souvenir in Ypres was named among the best discoveries of the year, most beautiful terrace was given to La Source in Lanaken, Limburg, and the best wine menu can be found at Nuance in Duffel, Antwerp province.

The Jane (pictured) in Antwerp earned the title of most talked-about newcomer, while Roeselare’s Boury – together with Samouraï in Brussels – snagged most improved. Ghent also walked away with several mentions: Michaël Vrijmoed was named best young chef for his restaurant Vrijmoed and Publiek won in the price/quality category.
