Manhattn's burger bar to open in Antwerp

Summary

Following on the success of their Brussels location, the Flemish owners of Manhattn's are taking to Groenplaats

Live from New York

Limburg brothers Jerry and Phil Vandermeulen are opening a third Manhattn’s burger restaurant to add to the two in Brussels. The new outlet has the distinction of being on Antwerp’s central square, Groenplaats. It will also be larger than the Brussels outlets.

The concept comes straight out of New York, where Jerry worked for two years selling Belgian waffles in the famous Wafels & Dinges food truck. With his brother, he wanted to bring “the New York vibe” to a local burger joint, he said, where America’s famed customer service and Belgium’s traditional fries would all be essential components.

The brothers work with recipes from New York eateries and make their own sauces. Fries are hand-cut and made fresh daily, and the beef is grass-fed Angus. They also sell American-style desserts, including homemade ice-cream sandwiches and milkshakes.

The new location will open on 8 June.
