Prince Laurent surprises with concert visit, and musical tastes

Contacted by VRT next day, the prince explained he’s not much of a fan, but the rest of the family are. “I wasn’t familiar with the singer, but the atmosphere was very exciting. It was a great experience for the children.” The following morning was somewhat more difficult, he admitted, as they still had to go to school.

His own musical choices, he told VRT, include French electro-pop group Variety Lab and French DJ Claude Challe, who is also a personal friend. He then directed VRT to his own Spotify account, where he goes by @pldeb.

That reveals recently played tracks by French chanson singer Patricia Kaas, Italian crooner Paolo Conte, Flemish artists Netsky and Hooverphonic and a mixed bag of pop and rock, including Britney Spears, Barry White, Kim Wilde and Daft Punk. Members of the public, he told the station, are free to follow him on the platform.
