Two dozen farmers recently competed for the title of Belgium’s best ploughman. The competition wants to bring more visibility to ploughing and the technology behind it.

The federal prosecutor is investigating a break-in into the computer system of telecommunications giant Belgacom, the government has revealed. Prime minister Elio Di Rupo promised that “the appropriate steps will be taken if the break-in turns out to be a case of cyber-espionage”.

Construction has started on Ecotron+, a series of unique ecosystem chambers that allow scientists to perform environmental and climate research. The new infrastructure should draw the interest of the international scientific community to Flanders. According to the Ecotron+ coordinator, one of Flanders’ strong suits is to create top facilities with an international impact.
