NMBS staff testing out new uniforms

Summary

A smart blend of blues typifies new uniforms being tested by a select few NMBS staff before being rolled out next year

Railyard blues

Rail operator NMBS has unveiled its new uniform for the on-board crew, with dark blue replacing the grey-and-orange you will have seen for the past 10 years. Between now and the end of the year, 30 train staff are testing out the new uniforms to assess its quality, weather resistance and how well it washes.

If all goes to plan, 4,000 NMBS employees will be kitted out with the new threads next June. The current uniform will be recycled.

The new outfit comes in both summer and winter versions, and women can choose between slacks, a skirt and a dress. The design was submitted by the Xandres Belgium label and chosen by a jury made up of employees and rail users.
