Antwerp will marry 450 couples in mass wedding
As part of the city’s ongoing celebrations related to the city hall’s 450th birthday, Antwerp mayor Bart De Wever will take to the Grote Markt in February to marry 450 couples

Weddings have always been an important core activity of the city hall (pictured), and the invitation to take part in the special ceremony was also open to couples who are already married and wish to renew their vows.
The mega-wedding is due to take place – perhaps rather frostily – on 27 February at 18.00, officiated by Antwerp mayor Bart De Wever. Couples taking part are invited to a reception inside the building afterwards, where they’ll also have the opportunity to have their picture taken by a professional photographer. Outside, a party will be open to everyone.
The 450 couples have been found, but hopefuls can sign up on the waiting list.
