Standic, the Dutch tank storage firm based in Dordrecht, plans to build a new facility at the port of Antwerp. The new storage terminal is a €200 million investment for the port.

Standic, part of the family-run Hametha group, is specialised in the storage of chemicals, biodiesels, base oils, lubricants and other resources used by various industries. The new 95,000 square-metre storage terminal in Antwerp will be the first outside of the Netherlands, doubling the company’s capacity.

“Standic’s new terminal further strengthens the synergy among the various industrial companies, thereby contributing to more cost-efficient logistics operations and processes,” said William Demoor, customer relations director at the port of Antwerp. “Moreover, the location is excellent in terms of multimodal access, a crucial part of the sustainable distribution of chemicals.”

Like the terminal in the Netherlands, the focus of the new site will be on the distribution of chemical products and niche markets. The size of the storage tanks vary from 500 to 3,500 cubic-metres. The new terminal should be ready by early 2021.
