Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike voted world’s best DJs
Summary
It’s back to the top for the brothers from Willebroek, who regain DJ Mag’s crown of the best DJs in the world
‘A big surprise’
The best DJs in the world are from Flanders, according to a global poll of more than one million dance music fans. The überfamous Antwerp duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike were crowned number one in the world at the weekend during the DJ Mag Top 100 ceremony in Amsterdam.
The brothers from Willebroek – real names Dimitri and Michael Thivaios – first appeared in the ranking in 79th place in 2011 and entered the top 10 two years later. They regain the number one title, which they first won in 2015, having lost out to Dutch DJ Martin Garrix for the past three consecutive years.
In 2016, the pair made it on to Forbes’ top 10 list of the world’s highest-paid DJs. “I was caught off guard with the news that we’re number one again,” said Vegas. “For us it was unreal. It was a big surprise, to be honest. We’re super happy.”
