Train delays and cancellations on Saturday due to strike
Members of one rail union will down tools this Saturday, meaning train delays
Staff shortages
OVS wants rail management to guarantee that every train conductor will be able to take a couple of days off this summer, which the rail operator said would be difficult because of severe and continuing staff shortages.
NMBS said that it will put in place a guaranteed train service to limit the impact of Saturday’s strike on travellers as much as possible but that passengers should expect delays and cancelled trains.
Saturday is the third day of the Pukkelpop music festival in Hasselt, which always means a heavy flow of festival-goers in the train. An NMBS spokesperson said that lines into Hasselt would be a priority.
“By Friday, our journey planner will allow you to check which trains will ride out and which ones won’t,” the spokesperson told VRT.
